I've been working on an XHTML/CSS project at work that got me wanting to update this site. I'll be swapping the table based layout for a stylesheets based layout as well as converting from HTML 4.01 to XHTML 1.0. I think the site looks pretty close to how it did before, but it should load much faster and render more consistantly across browsers. I might, at some point, play around with adding some AJAX stuff just for the fun of saying I did it. We'll see on that one.
I uploaded the WinAmp controller application I made for my roommate. It allows you to control WinAmp over a network. It isn't secured or anything, so it's best used on a LAN or something. It lacks a lot of features it probably should have, but it lets you do things like change the song, change the volume, fast forward, rewind, and various other little things that are somewhat useful in WinAmp. You can find it here.
I added an RSS feed for this place. No real reason because I don't update enough for it to matter. It's just cool tech stuff.
Ever have a year start off in a way that makes you wonder if it could get much worse? That's been my year so far, and the lack up crap on this site shows it. Usually during the school semester I have some side project going to keep me from burning out on school work. This semester it's been more personal projects that have kept me going. I think that's going to change soon though, so watch out. I've got a lot of ideas floating around right now (one of which is making this site a little bit nicer) that might pan out sooner than later. Don't forget (the one or two people that read this site every year), if you live in the Boise, ID area, come check out our monthly LAN parties! We love having new faces.
Oh, before I forget. Megatokyo is where it's at, and Wil Wheaton is the man (though after seeing Kill Bill vol. 2, it's a tough race with David Carradine).
If you happen to live in the Boise area, a couple of guys and myself have started up an official club at Boise State University that is currently looking into certain issues with graphics cards. We've called the club the Video Graphics Research Group and will be hosting LAN parties at BSU on the first Friday of every month. These LANs are a way for us to get more people interested in the club, as well as to put a couple of cards under some stress to get some temperature data. They're open to anyone, including non-students, and are a real blast. So if you're in the area on one of our meeting days, stop by and have some fun. You can get all the details at our website, here.
I uploaded a tetris clone that I wrote last semester. It's not the greaters in the world, but it was a really fun exercise for myself. Unfortunately, when the next semester picked up, I had to put it on hold, so it's probably worse than it actually should be. Credit goes to id Software (because I stole the line sound and the font from them), OpenOffice.org (I took the music from them), and to my girlfriend, Tara, for making the badass HUD. To be honest, the HUD is the only decent thing about the app. ;) Anyway, hopefully no one decides to come after me for borrowing the art and music. I was planning on replacing them, but like I said, I had to get back to school.
